It's Magic!!!!

Magic is the sweetest dog and after nearly two years with her family, she has come back to us to find a new home.  Her family was devastated to narrow down the source of their severe allergies to Magic.  She was very loved and wonderfully cared for, and they miss her dearly.  She is doing really well in foster care and is looking for her new forever family.  She is a little nervous in new situations but warms up quickly.

Getting In Sync For Retirement

I've been working really hard the last few weeks to get ready for my forever home.  I've been watching what my foster sister and brother do and trying it out too.  I've actually gotten pretty good at it.  Here's just a few.

We all slurp peany budder the same.  That's me in the middle.

I've learned to line up and wait at the door.  I'm in the middle again.

We sleep in the same direction now.

We even wait for dinner the same.  Note the precise placement of the legs.  Yep, I'm in the middle again.

And for my latest trick, I've learned to sit like them.  I still need practice but foma says I'm pretty good.  I'm on the right this time. I'm sure I can learn to sit in the middle.

There's still one finally Magic trick I have to perform and that's making my forever family appear.  I'm working over time now because I heard foma mention that there might an adoption event coming up soon.  I'll be ready to use all the Magic I have to make you fall nose over tail in love with me.  Then I can get in sync with your family.  Save me a spot right in the middle.

Meeting The Public

Saturday was a special day.  Foma got us pups up early and made sure our faces were clean and our teeth were brushed.  I knew it was special because it was Saturday and she usually tells us we have to sleep in.  But not this time.   We were in the car and headed to what she called a pet expo.  I didn't know what that was but I sat patiently through the ride.

Wow, this place was packed full of animals of every kind.  There were lots of big and small dogs.  I wasn't quite sure what to do at first so I kinda stood in the back and let Tapper and Dolly show me what to do.

After I got warmed up to people stopping by to say Hi and pet us on the head, foma said I was going to a special area for animals that were looking for a forever home.  Hey that's me!  Off we went and boy was it busy over there.  I stood around and met all kinds of people and kids and other dogs.  Everyone thought I was so cute and well behaved.  The kids kept coming back to pet me and ask their parents if they could maybe take me home.
Sometimes, I took a break and worked on my sit.  Foma says its real pretty and I want to keep it that way.
All of that meeting and greeting was hard work but I had help from some big male friends.  I felt better having lots of big brothers who all just happen to look like me.
Did you come by and meet me on Saturday?  Did you remember to fill out your application and send it to the folks at GEGR. There's one on the top of this page if you forgot. We need to meet again when there's not so many other people and dogs around.  I'm much more than a pretty face. Let's get together and share some Magic moments.

My First Road Trip

It hadn't been a week and foma was loading us pups in the car and taking us on a road trip.  She said I did real good in the car.  I just found me a spot to lay in like the others. That's me in the gold muzzle.

It turns out we were headed to aunt Cindy's and uncle Jeff's house for a blood donor event. To my surprise the dogs were the donors!  You see greyhounds make perfect blood donors.  Tapper and Dolly said they just like the peanut butter and cheese.  Thank goodness I was just along for the fun and games part. I got to run around and play with all the other hounds. It was a blast.  I was very polite and got along with everyone. We're all checking to see who's turn it was next.

Since I'm such a good girl, I don't have to wear my muzzle in the house any more.  Now I can get peanut butter too.  I love peanut butter and foma says I can have all I want. Nom Nom Nom.  Oh and I share really well too.  Can you guess which one is me?

You give up?  I'm on the left. Foma says me and Dolly look so much alike that she has to check our collars all the time.  Personally I think I give better kisses than Dolly.

Do you like doggy parties?  I have very good manners and I don't mind sharing with other pups. I know, we could have play dates.  I hear those are all the rage.  Let's make it happen.  Just fill out an application and get it to the folks at GEGR.  Tell them you'd like a real party girl.  Then drop my name, Magic, on them a few times.  They'll know who I am.  Maybe you should start stocking up on peanut butter and cheese too.  They're a must have at every party.

All this talk of peanut butter and cheese.  Now I'm hungry.  I'm going to go and give some kisses and see if foma will get me some treats.

Do You Believe.....

In Magic?
Well you should.  Just like that, I wiggled my nose and flipped my ear and now I'm on my way to retirement!  I'm making a brief stop at my foster home where I'll learn everything I need to know about the magical world of greyhound retirement.  I'll also be working on a magical potion that will have you falling in love with me in no time.

My first few days have been filled with wonders.  I arrived at my foster home and my foster mom took me to meet my foster brother and sister.  My fosis Dolly looks like a mini me.  That's her on the left.  Don't worry about those muzzles. Foma says we have to wear them when we go outside and for the first few days we're in the house.

I've already made good progress in my foster home.  I know where to go potty outside. No accidents for this girl.  I can do the stairs all by myself.  Sometimes I'm not sure how the other pups make themselves disappear but then I look up and there they are upstairs.  I'm learning to walk calmly on the leash.  I'm not afraid of load noises outside like trucks, buses or even jets.
I've already been allowed to come upstairs and hang out in foma's room.

I've even figured out what a doggy bed is.  Those things are amazing!  I like to try them all out so I go from one to another and then to another and then foster mom tells me I have to pick one and settle down.

There's so much to learn and I have to do it quick. I just know my forever family is ready to fall under my spell.  You may find yourself strangely drawn to me.  Returning to my blog often to see what I'm up to.  Looking for cute pictures of me doing fun things.  Dreaming of me and you taking walks together or playing in the yard. Don't be alarmed. You're simply under my spell.  IT'S MAGIC!  The only cure is to fill out an application and send it to the folks at GEGR.

I'll be back. I really want to try out another one of these great beds.
